Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations, Airmyn 2012
The following Committee members were elected:
Sara Backhouse (Chair), Sue Pickering (Vice Chair), Ruth Lowe (Secretary & PR), Samantha Stevens (Assistant PR), Mathew Lowe (Treasurer). All other attendees (7) to be general committee members. Apologies were received from 3 people.
The meeting went through a summary of the first meeting, with comments and ideas being added by those members previously unable to attend.
Discussions centred around the options available for Airmyn to celebrate the Jubilee weekend, how people could help the appearance of the village and what lead-in events could be held to raise funds and familiarise people with what was happening. The underlying theme is that we want to encourage our villagers to feel a part of the community and give everyone the opportunity to participate in a variety of social events.
The first event was agreed and this is to be a Valentine’s Quiz, held in the Village Hall, on Friday 10th February from 7.00pm. The cost will be £5 per person, to include a Pie & Peas supper. People may come along as individuals, couples or teams of up to eight. (Friends from out of the village will be more than welcome). Further details will be in the January edition of this Newsletter and on posters around the village.
It is planned that different events, appealing to and involving as many people as possible, will be held at monthly intervals leading up to the Jubilee weekend of 2nd-5th June. A list of these will be published as and when they are arranged.
The next meeting, open to anyone in the village, will be on Mon 9th Jan 2012 at 7.30pm in the Village Hall. Email airmynnews@hotmail.co.uk with ideas or suggestions or if you are unable to come along to the meeting but would like us to discuss your ideas.
